what's new?

I am planning on doing two specific paintings for the Bearclaw Gallery in Edmonton. I have been working on a number of portraits lately and have found them interesting to work on.

I was recently in Australia - I work with the Canada Council for the Arts as a program officer in the visual arts section. I was in Australia as a coordinator for a program which brought Canadian Aboriginal curators to the 2008 Sydney Biennale. This was a great opportunity for them and I was quite happy to see it work so well. The people at the Canadian Consulate Office and the Sydney Biennale were very helpful in making the visit by the curators a success. I also had time to go to Darwin to check on the art scene there. This picture is a self portrait taken at the Darwin Botanical Gardens. I hope to do a number of portraits in the future - not all of me of course, but some of people I know and some from research on the web.

Since I have started to work full time as a government employee my painting and writing has suffered as I find it quite difficult at my age to do what I used to do when I was in my twenties. So new work is rare - I only paint about 15 - 20 paintings a year and I only write a handful of poems. But it is nice having a paycheck every two weeks - so I think I will stick with the job and paint when my energy level allows it. wanna read some poetry?

I am working poetry more than painting as it is an easier medium to work at, just sit down at the computer and start pecking out words. To check out what I have been doing just click the link below.
